Muscle Injury Treatment

Muscle injury is the result of mechanical or chemical imbalance between muscle tissues or between the muscle tissue and surrounding healthy tissue. The most common of these injuries to the muscle are tendinitis or myositis. Tendinitis is inflammation of a tendinous tear. Myositis is the state in which a myoglobin-rich blood is found in muscle tissues. When myositis is present, it is a sign that the muscles are not in a good condition and that mechanical or chemical stimulus is exerting pressure on the damaged area, causing the inflammation of the myositis tissue.

Gene therapy has been used in certain instances such as breast cancer and other hereditary diseases. However, it was not available for muscle injuries until recently. This form of treatment is usually only recommended for athletes. A muscle injury does not always mean that the athlete will need surgery and physical therapy.
